The GCBS is a 9-acre oasis located right in Garden City. We have wooded areas with trails, open fields, meadows, gardens, and even a small fishpond! Get outside and step into nature right in the middle of the neighborhood!
Our season runs from the last weekend of April through the last full weekend of September. During our season we are open on weekends only from 10 AM–6 PM, weather permitting (Thanks to our dedicated Volunteer Corps!) The entrance is located at 182 Tanners Pond Rd. There is no charge to visit.
The mission of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary, Inc. is to manage protected greenspace for environmental stewardship, research, education, and community services programs.
The Garden City Bird Sanctuary, Inc. is a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and operates solely on donations and volunteers.

The Garden City Bird Sanctuary, Inc. is looking for volunteers to help maintain the property and ensure the GCBS is accessible during the 'open season.' Looks great on a resume or college application, and you belong to a great group of people helping to make our community and world a better place!
We also accommodate groups, even during our 'off season' — corporate workdays, youth organizations, Scout groups, and more!
Help the Garden City Bird Sanctuary ("GCBS") and donate today. The Garden City Bird Sanctuary, Inc. is a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and every penny we raise goes back into the GCBS and our community programs.
A gift of any amount is greatly needed and very much appreciated as we receive no funding at this time from Garden City, Nassau County, or New York State — we operate solely on donations and volunteers.
The GCBS was created and continues to thrive through the generosity and dedication of good people like you — over 10,000 people have worked to make the 9-acre preserve what it is today. Our family of volunteers and donors are committed year-round to keeping the GCBS beautiful and open for our surrounding community to enjoy.
Donations can be made online or by mailing a check made out to the Garden City Bird Sanctuary to PO Box 7507, Garden City, NY 11530
